So, I'm going to have to buy the book, and its sequel. The series amazes me. Seriously. I am so profoundly amazed and disturbed; it's one thing to read the accounts of Tacitus and Suetonius and others. It's quite another to see these accounts dramatized so well.
Rome, or what I saw of it, was rather good. I should like to see the whole series, as Roman history has always been of particular interest. But even it can't stand up to I, Claudius.
Caligula and Drusilla. That's all I need say. John Hurt was, and is a great actor.
"Don't go in there, uncle. Do not go in there."
My favorite character, Claudius aside, is Herod Agrippa. You know, the one you read about in Acts. He's comic relief at times, but he brings a level of sensibility lacking among most of the Romans.
Patrick Stewart as Sejanus was amazing. Such a loathsome creature, that Sejanus. I hated Patrick Stewart when he came on screen. I wanted to strangle him. Especially after Augustus' trip to Corsica and subsequent death. You'll have to see it.
Tiberius reminded me of the assistant manager at my old job. The manager who made the mistake of using verbally abusive language to an employee in front of me. Yeah, I got him fired. It was good to see Tiberius go, too.
Well, I'm outta here. Time for work. The market was good to me this morning. I am pleased.
