Vain Philosophizing and The Plan

My plan for the next few years is relatively unchanged. I'm hopeful that things will work out in some aspects, but even though I've been mentally and emotionally incoherent the past two weeks, I've been reevaluating everything and the finished product seems good enough.

Right now, I've been going through and eliminating junk, clutter, and salable items. I lived a spartan life at the apartment, and given that I will not have anyone with whom to share my largesse, I will continue to live a spartan life. Usually when I am this depressed, I start buying things. This time, I'm getting rid of things. What I can't sell, I'll give away. Really, I could live with just my books, my computer, and food, but there are some things I'd like to hang on to so I can pass them down to my nephew and/or any kids I might one day have. And my hobbies, but I'll need to buy more stuff for them, which is a little irritating.

So, my plan:

July 5th. X-Day (by the Subgenius Calendar): jump out of an airplane. Why? One, it terrifies me, so that's a good reason. Two, adrenaline is weird with me: it takes a lot to get it going, but once I have a good rush going, it lasts. Three, I've always wanted to.

Sometime this summer: vacation. Most likely Boston for a weekend.

Next six months:
1) Continue working both jobs, building up finances, paying down debt, saving, building equity and value in the house.
2) Study French and Russian in depth.
3) Begin learning new marketable skills.
4) Continue rebuilding my strength. I'm back to 2008 levels, which is not bad, but is still 60% of where I was before my injury. I miss being able to curl 50lbs for reps. I never was able to do a 200lb bench. Hopefully by 2012. >_>
5) Lose 20lbs.
6) Buy a viola, and learn to play.
7) Invest in plans with Ariel.
8) Finish the damn novel and begin submitting it.
9) Make money.

2011:
1) Lose additional 20lbs. I'd feel and look much better back at 160. This has been a goal for some time, but I've gotten complacent.
2) Japan, perhaps China or South Korea since I'll be in the area.
3) See the few states I haven't seen, except AK and HI, those can wait.
4) Drop one of the jobs, continue financial conservatism (trips and such aside.)
5) In February, get ink, shed tears. (Pasternak Reference and prophecy)
6) Scotland for the MacPherson festival. W000t!
7) Enroll in online classes from University of Illinois.
8) Continue ongoing plans.

2012:
1) Maintain lifestyle, continue ongoing plans.
2) Prepare for end of world.
3) Travel continental Europe. Definite locales: France: Normandy, Paris, the Maginot Line; Germany: Eagle's Nest, Berlin, Frankfurt, Dresden; Switzerland: visit L'abri, explore the Alps and countryside; Italy: Rome, Florence, Venice; Czechoslovakia: Prague, Ceska Zbrojovka factory (if they offer tours); Romania: Transylvania.
4) Continue online classes.
5) Start another business.
6) Be disappointed when world does not end.

2013:
1) Evaluate current financial position.
2) 4Q: Graduate with a 4 year degree.
3) Evaluate skills, current business opportunities, determine whether a nomadic, semi-nomadic, or otherwise located lifestyle suits opportunities.
4) Move or stay accordingly.

Some of these ideas depend, of course, on the entire economy not collapsing. Should that happen, I do have backup plans. Those remain private. >_>
